Helping Others Helps You

The following very valid advice was offered by The American Heart Association. Researchers at the University of Michigan found that giving to others actually promotes health and longevity.

Receiving, on the other hand, had no such effect. Test subjects show that helping others on a regular basis, decreased the possibility of major health events and mortality by 2 1/2 times. Test subjects also reported that altruism gave them a sensation of warmth, increased energy, and euphoria— the so-called helpers high. 

Helping others helps you, by giving clearer mental and better physical health. It generates a sense of belonging and mattering. These positive gains are beneficial to the body, the immune system, cardiovascular health, and healthier life.
