Today is the anniversary of the date that our baby Jaylene came to live with us as part of our family (26 years ago).

I am Jaylene and I am Kind
I wonder how people see me
I hear wolves howling at night when I’m in bed
I see dragons flying with the clouds in the sky
I want to be at peace all my life
I am Jaylene and I am kind
I pretend to be animals that never were
I dream of owning my own barn with horses
I try to make my mom’s day better
I hope to grow up smart
I am Jaylene and I am kind
I feel like I can fly when I close my eyes
I touch animals fur
I worry about bad dreams coming true
I cry about animals who die that I know
I understand the ways of life
I am Jaylene and I am kind
What a joy like an angel, how children change our hearts and bring mothers to their knees in joy and tears not understood by those of the barren— children are not our children says Gibran- and yet even the barren can appreciate the spark of the divine they are to all.
