Bites, Stings, and Sunburn:
If you do not have an insect repellent handy that contains citronella oil, rub the outside surface of some orange peel across your child’s exposed skin.
Cut open an aloe vera leaf and apply the gel inside it to the injury. Aloe vera gel can also be purchased in a pharmacy or health food store. Applying aloe vera after you have treated the bite or burn helps the skin to heal. Rub a bit of the gel on your skin after cleansing at night for soft skin in days.
Chilled witch hazel, white or apple cider vinegar also stops itching.
Activated charcoal is another treatment for spider or other bites and stings. Remove any stingers first, however. Use clean water to make a paste of the charcoal and apply it to the affected area. A piece of plastic wrap covered with a bandage will keep the substance in place. This is also an excellent remedy for boils or pimples.
A paste of baking soda and cool water is an excellent antidote for stings.
Note: if the sting creates an allergic reaction with abnormal swelling, difficulty in breathing, welts and signs of shock, call for emergency medical assistance immediately

We always have on hand the homeopathic antidote to bee or wasp stings: apis mellifica in dilusions of 5ch, 9ch and 15ch. You would want to check what dilution is recommended by homeopathists in your country. This can prevent an allergic reaction and reduce swelling.
A remarkable plant that grows nearly everywhere is plantain and dock leaves. Also for nettle sting. Just chew it up a bit and apply. Even if the sting is a couple of hours old. Its just incredible! Even for little children. If you don’t have these in the wilder section of your garden, or live in a city, then gather the leaves on an outing and macerate them in ciderOtherwise slices of onion are effective too; probably the sulfur in them because sulfer powder is useful too for itches. And some in the dog’s water helps with heat reaction. It is still available for this vet use Britain, but harder to find in countries where the old household remedies have been supplanted by commercial ones. We get it online.
Bentonite or Montmorency clay works well too, similar to the charcoal powder which Almine recommends here. Both are so useful! For a lot. Very worth reading up on as they have many uses, including food ‘poisoning’. For that an emergency visit would be best, but charcoal straight away while waiting for medical assistance.
Thank you Almine for these reminders!

I always carry Arnicare (gel) or Arnica cream. It stops the itching and singing straight away. Good also for any kind of skin irritation or swelling or cuts and bruising as well. 🙂
