Amidst the coronavirus pandemic, I had the chance to ask Almine this question.
QUESTION: What can I personally take to boost my resistance to flu, viruses and colds?
ANSWER:Get a large quantity of green tea. Soak two teabags in hot water three times a day and gargle with the tea. Do this even when you wake up to visit the rest room at night. If you put two teabags in your cold water bottle, you can drink it without getting the caffeine (caffeine comes out of the tea only when exposed to heat — cold water doesn’t draw out the caffeine from the leaves). This advice was given to me from a virologist in Idaho. He further explained that most systemic infections spread throughout the body but originate in the sinuses and back of the throat, so gargle often.

Thank you Almine! Wondering if ok just to drink the tea or must it be gargled. If cold do you drink it? I actually have de caffeinated green tea.

Hi Kelly, from what Almine said, the green tea should be gargled a few times a day. However, she did say you can drink it – either hot or cold..whichever you prefer. Drinking it cold is only for those who don’t want the caffeine from the tea.

I highly recommend a neti pot. It work by cleaning out the sinuses to prevent or shorten infections.
