Question:
What is the symbolic meaning of clutter? (Your own cluttered environment or another’s?)
The Seer:
Clutter needs to be properly defined — clutter and complexity are not the same thing. Clutter is complexity without organized purpose. You tend to favor minimalism and your partner likes complexity in his or her environment. For him complexity is warm and cherishing, but for you it is not peaceful. For your partner minimalism, on the other hand, is cold and unfeeling. As dream symbols they represent unintegrated opposites.
When opposites are separated (by value judgements of one over the other) we attract the opposite pole we resist.
Seers’ Note:
To integrate the opposites of simplicity and complexity, contemplate the following:
• “Simplicity is organized complexity.”
• “Your environment is always a mirror image of your thoughts and feelings. If your mind is not organized by worrying about things that may happen or concerning yourself about things that are not under your direct control, then your mind is cluttered and consequently clutter will be drawn into your environment.”
