On the lands where the Nez Pierce roam
Where hoary headed mountains tower and raging rivers flow
In a little tent I camped alone
On the banks of a stream
Where crickets sing and
bullfrogs dream
I played my drum in the full moon’s gleam
Deep was my slumber under the star-studded sky
I awoke to the glow of the dawn’s first light
And the piercing sound of an eagle’s cry
Amidst trees like wrestlers that have battled the wind
The stream’s icy currents stung my skin
As I bathed, the water cleaved with a salmon’s fin
From far above in dizzy heights
An eagle dove in breathless flight
With claws of steel he grabbed his prize
With regal disdain he ignored me there
Thrice more he lifted fish into the air
To where his young awaited their share
As I watched his flights of grace
I felt I was in hallowed space
Then he left without a trace
On velvet banks of mossy green
A simple meal beside the stream
Warmed my heart and suffused my being
The morning air fresh and clear
The stream like music to my ears
Its the Eagle’s gift I hold most dear
Years have passed since I’ve seen him fly
But in my heart I still hear his cry
Changing the mundane into the sublime

Exquisite to hear this poetry being read by your magical voice Almine
I felt it inside and now I yearn to camp ónce more
You have spoken to my heart in silent whispers and sometimes a roar
The Eagle is with you always
Intimacy sublime Beloved Earth of mine
Truly eternal beyond the illusion of time
Much love

I always look forward reading Almine’s poetry. I just realized that my inner child feels so nurtured by it. Today after reading poem “Eagle’s gift” I was inspired to write the poem:
(Below is the same poem from me, but I realized that I did spelling mistake in the word Mosses, so I changed it.)
MAGICAL VOICE
Many years ago I sang to the trees
Little child’s voice enveloped their leaves
Mosses were listening as if they had ears
The singing gave me a sigh of relief
I got help from a little forest’s stream
My little hands were keeping the creek clean
Feelings of deep care were rising in me
It feels like a portal is opening in my heart now
In the child’s play the pristine magic is realized
Child and the song are merging into one
Putting a smile on the face of the Holly one
