This mother comes to bring her baby every day to look at the waterfall in our rock garden. She says our garden is beautiful and they love it. She says when her baby’s having a fit and crying, she brings the baby over here to look at the waterfall and it calms the baby. Our garden is very healing to our neighbors.

I set up a modest raised veggie garden in the front of my last house. Transforming bare sand to a useful and thriving space. It was a talking point amongst my neighbours also, and an opportunity to connect with them on a regular basis. Whilst everyone has front lawns or some open space, if most converted these to productive gardens, the dependence on the outsourcing of our food would be removed and every street could become a vibrant, connected community.
