Why removing tea from a teabag before steeping is a good idea:
The Seer:
Many commercial tea bags are bad for you because they release billions of microplastics and nanoplastics as well as potentially toxic adhesives and bleaching chemicals when steeped in hot water. Lower-quality bags often contain leftover “tea dust” and may lack the antioxidants found in whole-leaf tea.
- Switch to Loose Leaf: The safest and most flavorful way to enjoy tea is by using loose-leaf tea combined with a stainless-steel infuser or reusable filter.
- Verify Your Brands: If you prefer the convenience of bags, check the labels. Certain brands, including Numi Teas, Traditional Medicinals, and Stash Teas, rely on unbleached plant fibers, manila hemp, or unglued paper rather than plastic.
- Empty the Bag: If you are unsure about the safety of your tea bags, you can simply cut them open and pour the loose tea into a metal mesh diffuser before brewing.
I stopped using tea bags and switched to loose leaf tea ( cheaper too) because of the inflammation it caused in my body.
I only use herbal tea and red Rooibos teas. All decaffeinated teas.
Thank you!!!
Great advice 💟
Yikes I was not aware that the bag carried so many toxins. I thank you for shifting my approach to my morning tea. Happily the rest of the tea that I drink during the day and night are all loose. As always, thank you for this awareness. Much love
This is great! My husband and I have been using loose leaf or cutting our bags open for years. 🙏✨🌹✨🙏
